What is the FX-200?
The FX-200 is a Stage 2 upgraded high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) designed for the BMW B46/B48 engines, replacing the earlier FX-180 model. Featuring a larger bore than the stock pump, it delivers approximately double the flow, making it perfect for high-performance applications. Fully E85-compatible and 100% plug-and-play, the FX-200 requires no cutting, splicing, or modifications. The increased flow supports higher ethanol concentrations and provides the fueling needed for larger turbos.

Why do you need it?
The stock HPFP on the B46/B48 engine is a significant limitation when tuning for higher performance. The FX-200 solves this issue by offering double the flow of the stock pump, greatly increasing the fueling capacity. This upgrade enables you to push the limits of your engine with bigger turbos and higher ethanol blends, making it essential for any performance-focused build.

Are tune changes required?
Yes, calibration changes are necessary when using the FX-200. These adjustments must be made before starting the engine with the upgraded pump installed to prevent potential damage and warranty voids.

Spool Performance provides calibration details to your existing tuner and can connect you with tuners experienced with FX-200 pumps. While Spool Performance doesn’t offer custom tuning services, we’re happy to assist your tuner with any questions. Proper custom tuning is critical to achieving maximum performance from your upgraded fuel system, tailored to your specific setup and conditions.

Low-Pressure Fuel Pump Upgrade
Adequate low-pressure fueling is essential to ensure the HPFP and injectors perform optimally in direct injection (DI) systems. Insufficient low-pressure fuel supply can cause damage to the HPFP piston and bore, which rely on fuel for lubrication. Any damage resulting from low-pressure starvation is detectable and will void the warranty.
